With the Workspace’s Advanced Settings, you can control what tools are displayed in the editor, and customize the behavior of the cursor and app as you work on the page.
Advanced settings are user-specific, not project-specific, meaning your chosen settings will apply to all your projects.
This article will show you how to open the Advanced Settings window, and will explain each of the options you can select.
Advanced settings window
To select or deselect the Advanced Settings options:
- Click the Settings button towards the bottom of the Left Sidebar.
- Choose Advanced Settings from the dropdown.
- Select or deselect the checkboxes for each option.
Select behind locked objects
Select behind locked objects allows you to click through a locked object to reveal, select and edit objects arranged behind it.
Show coordinates tooltip
Show coordinates tooltip displays the coordinates of any object as you move it around the page or canvas. It is enabled by default.
Select objects by intersection
Select objects by intersection, enabled by default, selects an object when you click and drag your cursor over any part of that object. When the checkbox is deselected, you have to encompass the entire object before the object is selected.
Optimize memory usage
When you’re working, Moqups renders your project pages into the browser’s memory to help them load seamlessly as you select them. However, long editing sessions while jumping between multiple pages with heavy content can eventually cause lagging.
Enabling Optimize memory usage helps boost performance by optimizing the browser’s memory.
Show annotations on snapping guides
If you have Snapping turned on, Show annotations on snapping guides displays an object’s distance, in pixels, from any nearby element as you move the object around the page. This option is enabled by default.
Show guides while holding ALT key
When you select an object, holding down the Alt/Option
key will show pink guidelines with the object’s distance from all four page margins. This feature is enabled by default.
Enable distance snapping
Enable distance snapping helps you space multiple objects equidistantly, and is active by default. Just align your first two objects, and Distance Snapping will automatically activate to match that distance for subsequent objects.
Disable filter effects when interacting
To maximize performance, Disable filter effects when interacting temporarily removes drop-shadow and blur filters when you reposition an object on the page. The filters are immediately restored when you deselect the object.
Show page thumbnails on hover
When enabled, Show page thumbnails on hover provides a visual preview of a page’s content when you hover over its name in the Pages Panel.
Highlight objects while hovering
Highlight objects while hovering displays a blue border around objects as you hover, making it easier to identify and select them. This feature is enabled by default.
Show floating zoom controls
Enabled by default, Show floating zoom controls displays both the Page Zoom and the Undo/Redo controls along the lower-left corner of the page’s viewport.
- The ‘-’ and ‘+’ keys let you zoom in and out
- Click on the percentage to reset the zoom to 100%
- The ‘fit’ icon zooms contextually according to the following steps:
- Zoom to selection
- Zoom to page
- Zoom to content (including content beyond the page)
Hovering over the zoom and undo buttons will display tooltips with their keyboard shortcuts. You can find additional commands in our Keyboard Shortcuts article.
Insert images at their natural pixel size
When you add images to the page by dragging them from the library or pasting them, they're automatically resized to fit your monitor and operating system settings. If you prefer to display images in their original pixel size, you can enable this option.
Remember page zoom level and scroll position
Enabled by default, this option remembers the zoom level and scroll position for each page within a project as you jump back and forth between those pages.
