Bring Balsamiq wireframes seamlessly into Moqups with no plugin required. Just copy/paste or drag and drop!

We have lots of clients who want to move their designs from Balsamiq to Moqups, and maybe you’re one of them. There are generally three reasons that you might want to switch:

  • You’ve used Balsamiq to create very basic grayscale wireframes but, as your project evolves, you need to move to mid or high-fidelity mockups. Moqups has more robust design tools to support that transition, including customizable fonts and colors, realistic charts and graphs, resize constraints, and reusable components.
  • Your product team wants to wireframe, brainstorm, whiteboard, strategize, and diagram in the same app. Moqups’ all-in-one capability lets you create all those project assets in one place. That way, team members don’t have to context-switch between apps just to get the job done.
  • Balsamiq’s recent pricing change from a per-project to per-seat model has made team collaboration much more expensive than working together in Moqups.

In the past, teams switching to Moqups had to remake their projects, but no more! It’s now incredibly easy to move work from Balsamiq. Here’s how!

Copy and paste from Balsamiq to Moqups

To move single boards – or selected elements within a board – just copy from Balsamiq and paste onto your Moqups page. It’s that quick. Our converter will choose the closest equivalent Moqups stencil for each Balsamiq element, and you can start editing immediately.

Drop Balsamiq files right onto your Moqups page

If you have a more extensive project in Balsamiq – especially one with multiple boards – you can export the project and drop the .bmpr file directly onto your Moqups page. Each board will become a separate page within your Moqups project, labeled with the previous board name. So, it’s easy to move your current or older projects into Moqups – and pick up right where you left off.

What’s Next

We are making it much easier to bring all kinds of work into our app. We recently launched our Figma plugin to make it easy to move Figma designs into Moqups.

And, now we’re putting the finishing touches on a new version of our Moqups Extension – one that has the potential to completely change your Moqups workflow.

Our new extension will let you bring live webpages, selected page elements, and AI artifacts right into Moqups as fully editable designs. So watch this space and stay tuned!
